Adopt Un cane eroe per la maturità

Mixed Breed · Unknown

In these hot days of early summer, many Italian students are facing the dreaded high school leaving exam. It is a fundamental step for the young people: they are asked to prove, through study and effort, that they are ready to meet adult life and its responsibilities outside of school. Even Fiocco - who has a bit of golden retriever in his DNA - would certainly be able to help a student! However, it's not necessary to do it alone: better with the support of someone, family, friends, loved ones, and why not, even a trusted four-legged companion. Which can help before the big jump, during that ultimate exam that catapults you into the world of "grown-ups." This is what happened in these days at the Galileo Galilei Technical Institute in Livorno, where a student showed up for her oral exam accompanied by Wall-e, a rescue dog... in every sense. As several online media reports have highlighted, intrigued by the story, Serena B.'s academic career had always been difficult, marked by blocks and difficulty speaking in public, especially when being interrogated, a situation she never managed to face over five years. But the student wanted to support the most important and terrifying interview in the best possible way, so she decided to ask for a paw from Wall-e, a golden retriever on duty at the Italian Rescue Dogs School in Florence. The two met during a school project called "Six-legged Lifeguard," establishing a strong understanding during training sessions and practice in the fire department barracks, in the pool and at sea. Serena would have felt much more comfortable in the classroom if the dog, with whom she had formed such a special bond, had been beside her. The permission to have Wall-e near her was requested and granted, and the girl presented herself before the panel, managing the oral exam calmly and strongly, thanks to the presence of her canine supporter. She brilliantly passed her high school leaving exam. Those who find it difficult to relate to others often find greater empathy and acceptance in the presence of dogs, because with them, there is no need for long speeches or explanations, just a glance, a gesture to create a connection. Like the one that developed between Wall-e and Serena, the "six-legged graduate" who could dive into the sea of adulthood thanks to the friendship with her lifeguard dog.

What life with Un cane eroe per la maturità looks like

Un cane eroe per la maturità is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Associazione Onlus Apaca in Italy.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

How do I contact the shelter about Un cane eroe per la maturità?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Associazione Onlus Apaca handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Un cane eroe per la maturità on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Un cane eroe per la maturità if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Associazione Onlus Apaca will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Un cane eroe per la maturità already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Un cane eroe per la maturità isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Associazione Onlus Apaca early rather than rehoming privately; they know Un cane eroe per la maturità and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
