Adopt Un’estate di passeggiate

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Summer has arrived, and with it, despite the weather and always keeping a watchful eye on the pandemic's course, there is also a great desire to go out, walk, run, and play outdoors with their dogs. Dogs are animals that need movement, but their variety is so wide and their lifestyles so different that it's impossible to make a single statement valid for all of them. For Tago, a dog adopted by Giuseppe and Patrizia from the Apaca animal shelter, walks are real "excursions." A general distinction can be made for different breeds: there are examples that need motion, running, and exploration like herding or hunting dogs, compared to others that are also content walking calmly next to their human friend, like many companion small dogs. It is also important to recognize the particularities that often surprise us: not everyone knows, for example, that a small Jack Russell Terrier needs more movement than a large Mastiff that prefers to peacefully nap in the living room! But everything depends on the energy a dog has; one cannot rely solely on the breed's characteristics, otherwise it would be impossible to account for the needs of the countless mixed-breed dogs that fill the lives of millions of people. In animal shelters, mixed-breeds are predominant, and each of them has qualities and needs that are sometimes discovered gradually as the relationship deepens, depending on their experience, age, and size. Often, these needs can change over time, based on the reactions the dogs show after a period, often unfortunately very long, spent in a cage. As volunteers, we try to ensure all the guests at least a daily walk or a nice free exercise in the designated areas of the animal shelter, and there are even those who take the initiative to invent games to positively activate or channel the mental energy of some dogs particularly eager to engage in this kind of activity. Walking is fundamental for a dog at every stage of its life, especially if done in different areas and environments, which allows it to awaken all its senses and stimulate the desire to explore and investigate, to sniff and discover the surrounding world, following always new stimuli. This is the goal that drives dogs to want to go for a walk multiple times a day. But the relationship with their human companion is also a source of joy and well-being for a dog: having fun together through mental stimulation exercises, training, or sports is an excellent way to release the vitality of one's dog and at the same time make it satisfied with itself. Always considering the conditions, habits, and individual characteristics, because, like all aspects of a dog's life, knowing how to observe and learn to know it thoroughly proves to be essential for its physical and psychological health. And the relaxed or engaging walks that they can enjoy until late -now that it's summer- are certainly a balm for many dogs, whether lively or lazy.

About Un’estate di passeggiate

What life with Un’estate di passeggiate looks like

Un’estate di passeggiate is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Associazione Onlus Apaca in Italy.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Un’estate di passeggiate, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Un’estate di passeggiate?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Associazione Onlus Apaca handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Un’estate di passeggiate on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Un’estate di passeggiate if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Associazione Onlus Apaca will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Un’estate di passeggiate already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Un’estate di passeggiate isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Associazione Onlus Apaca early rather than rehoming privately; they know Un’estate di passeggiate and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
