Unique

Mixed Breed Β· Female

Unique is living with her foster siblings Hayama and Hiroshi in a foster home for a few weeks now. The first two weeks she stayed with us to gain strength and get used to companionship. After less than two days of hissing, she was "over it" and now enjoys cuddles, kisses, and sometimes likes to snuggle up on someone's lap. The introduction with Hiroshi and Hayama was a bit tense, but after a day or two, they got along well. Now they play and sleep together as if they've always done so. We think Unique would do well living with another kitten or a playful older tom. Or as a trio with Hiroshi and Hayama, of course. We noticed right away that she was a bit more tired than the others. During the sterilization examination, it unfortunately became clear why: Unique has a heart murmur. Fortunately, she doesn't know this herself and doesn't lag behind the others in playing and hunting. But it's definitely something to take seriously. Unique is an incredibly sweet and fun little girl, but with a condition to take into account. For more information about this, please call Kat in Nood. We don't know if she can live with dogs. A household with young children seems less suitable, also because it's important to be able to explain what's wrong with Unique and what's important in dealing with her.

NLΒ·Show original

About Unique

What life with Unique looks like

Unique is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Kat in Nood in Netherlands.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction β€” every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

πŸ‡³πŸ‡±Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Unique, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Unique?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kat in Nood handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Unique on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Unique if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Kat in Nood will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Unique already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Unique isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kat in Nood early rather than rehoming privately; they know Unique and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
