Adopt Uschi (externe Vermittlungshilfe)

Female · Senior · 11 years

With a heavy heart, we turn to you for support. Our cat Uschi has been with us since 2015. From the start, she was a rather difficult case – very fearful, with a fear of hands, and unfortunately never house-trained. Since 2020, especially since the birth of our children, the situation has worsened significantly: Uschi reacts aggressively towards the children and has never accepted them. We have tried many things in the past years – more opportunities for retreat, training with Feliway, veterinary advice – but unfortunately, her behavior has not improved. With the next baby we are expecting in September, we are now overwhelmed by the situation. Uschi is a pure indoor cat and shows no interest in being let out, as she remains very fearful. She has been healthy so far, is neutered, regularly vaccinated, and microchipped. She is more reserved with people but shows some affection in quiet moments. We very much hope that she will get a new chance in a childless, quiet home with experienced cat owners. (The text was written by the owners. About Uschi (externe Vermittlungshilfe)

What life with Uschi (externe Vermittlungshilfe) looks like

Uschi (externe Vermittlungshilfe) is a senior cat waiting at Kolner Tierschutzverein in Köln.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Uschi (externe Vermittlungshilfe), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Uschi (externe Vermittlungshilfe)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kolner Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Uschi (externe Vermittlungshilfe) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Uschi (externe Vermittlungshilfe) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kolner Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Uschi (externe Vermittlungshilfe) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Uschi (externe Vermittlungshilfe) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kolner Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Uschi (externe Vermittlungshilfe) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
