male Olde English Bulldogge (Mix?) Born in 2018 allegedly abandoned/Found neutered [x] yes / [] no In the animal shelter since 07.08.2025 Uwe came as an alleged found dog or abandoned, and we now have clear indications that this was merely a pretense, and he actually stems from very precarious circumstances and was likely sent to us due to poorly managed or nonexistent aggressive behavior. The authorities are involved, but we don't hold much hope from them. Uwe is a dog who clearly shows that he has been largely on his own for a long time and needs time to become more approachable with new people and situations. He has made some progress with us and enjoys company and shared activities. He is also very clingy with his trusted people and enjoys affectionate attention and playtime. However, initially, he is deeply suspicious, often appears depressed and withdrawn, and seems to have not only had bad experiences. We are working with him gradually and consistently to anchor positive experiences. If Uwe feels overwhelmed or pressured, he can become rather confrontational and means it seriously. In a home, he should be worked with step-by-step without pressure, and Uwe should be given a clear pattern of consistent structures that provide him with security, making his rehoming and daily life predictable and calculable. He seeks confident, engaged, and knowledgeable people who want to work responsibly with him and build his trust and joy in life. Definitively, Uwe should not be misunderstood as a status symbol or a "protective" dog. Uwe is relatively unexcited around other dogs and generally gets along with them, but he is not particularly interested in them at this point. He could, depending on the sympathy, bond with an even-tempered female dog who meets him on eye level, but this is not a must. Unfortunately, Uwe also came to us with some health issues. He arrived with entropion (rolling eyelid) which must be operated on, and this surgery is scheduled for December. Unfortunately, he will also need long-term pain medication, as he has very poor hips on both sides and beginning arthrosis and spondylosis in his back. He walks very well and calmly on a leash and reacts to most external stimuli unexcitedly. We hope very much that Uwe gets the chance for a fulfilling life outside the animal shelter and finds a nice, safe home! (As of 07.12.2025) (Click images to view them in full size!) The description only reflects how the animal currently behaves in the animal shelter. It is possible that the animal will behave differently in a new home with you and your training! Tags:

About Uwe

What life with Uwe looks like

Uwe is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Marburg in Marburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Uwe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Uwe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Uwe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Uwe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Uwe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Uwe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Uwe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
