Vader

Labrador Retriever · Male · Adult · 4 years

Hello, everyone, here comes Vader. I am a Labrador Retriever from the working line and fully meet my breed description. Athletic, work-motivated (sometimes even a bit over-motivated) and demanding, I could be described in three simple words. My new people can have a lot of fun with me. Simply going for a walk is not enough for me; I want to be challenged and supported. Dragging is breed-conform my absolute passion – and I can even do it with a muzzle. Dummy work would be exactly the right thing for me. But I could also be enthusiastic about Canicross, Hoopers, Rally Obedience, Mantrailing, or similar activities. In short: I want to be meaningfully occupied. All these great qualities, however, bring a lot of challenges for my new people. As I get overexcited quickly, calmness and impulse control must also be part of my everyday life. I train this here daily, but it still comes a bit hard for me. Dog experience – ideally with working breeds – is an absolute prerequisite. Because I need very clear rules and boundaries; otherwise, I will set the terms of our coexistence according to my conditions. All kinds of resources are important to me, whether it's food, toys, or resting places, and I will also defend them if you do not clearly communicate that they are not allowed. I also only allow myself to be limited by people who handle me very sovereignly and consistently. Since I did not have such people in my previous home, I had several biting incidents, which have made me muzzle- and leash-dependent. But I manage with these accessories just fine. If my conditions do not deter you and you are confident in leading an energy bundle like me through everyday life, come visit me at our shelter. Here, I can also show you live what I can do, and my caretakers and trainers can answer any open questions you may have.

Hallo Leute, hier kommt Vader. Euer Vader

About Vader

What life with Vader looks like

Vader is a adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. in Remagen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vader, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vader?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vader on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vader if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vader already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vader isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vader and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
