adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! For over 1,095 days, Vadim has been waiting for his ticket to happiness. More than three long years behind bars, where he hopes day by day that he will finally get the door to his own home opened. While many other dogs have already traveled to their new lives, Vadim has always been left behind. But we do not give up hope. Somewhere out there, a person awaits who sees Vadim and gives him the chance he so deserves. Vadim is an impressive dog with a shoulder height of around 70 cm and an equally large heart. At 9.5 years old, Vadim is in his prime. He is friendly with people and shows himself to be compatible and social in the company of other dogs. His calm demeanor and friendly nature make him a pleasant companion. What he has experienced in his past life remains his secret – his past is a closed chapter. We cannot rule out that Vadim may have herding dog traits. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced home or people who are willing to delve into these special characteristics. Herding dogs are not city dogs. For Vadim, we wish for a quiet, rural environment, ideally with a garden, few changing visitors, and people who understand him and respect his independent nature. He is not suitable for an office environment – but a faithful, loyal companion for people who appreciate his strength and gentleness. Vadim is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He possesses an EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive foster home trial. A foster home would be a great gift for Vadim and a first step out of the long wait. Who gives this special dog the love, security, and species-appropriate home he has been waiting for so long? A big thank you goes to Anette K., who has taken over a monthly sponsorship for Vadim. As of 12.02.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 12.02.2026

About Vadim

What life with Vadim looks like

Vadim is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vadim, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vadim?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vadim on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vadim if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vadim already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vadim isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vadim and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
