adoption requirements adoption process Request this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Request this dog now! Valentin had a difficult start: He was left tied up in a wood workshop, at a place that was anything but safe for him. Fortunately, he was rescued in time. After his medical care, he is now in our shelter in Fantanele and is waiting here for his chance. Despite everything he has been through, Valentin shows himself to be very friendly, approachable, and truly lovable teddy dog. He is more of a cozy type, spending a lot of time quietly and observing his surroundings calmly. On the leash, he walks nicely, is easy to handle, and does not push himself forward. Valentin is compatible with other dogs. During an examination, it was found that he probably has a congenital narrowing in the intervertebral spaces of the spine. Climbing stairs and heavy physical exertion should be avoided to protect him. X-rays can be provided for detailed clarification upon request. In addition, Valentin has had a urethrostomy. This means that his penis was amputated and a new opening for urine was created. However, he should not have any impairments in daily life. For the small lion, we wish a quiet, stable home without many stairs and without great sporting ambitions. He fits well with people who are looking for a relaxed companion and enjoy quiet walks and a cozy everyday life. Valentin will go out vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas and neutered and will naturally bring his EU pet passport. After a positive A big thanks goes to Marion G.! You gave Valentin not only an identity with his name, but also the chance for a new life! Status: 18.04.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 18.04.2026

About Valentin

What life with Valentin looks like

Valentin is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Valentin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Valentin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Valentin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Valentin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Valentin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Valentin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Valentin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
