Valentina

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Vaccinations and rabies Valentina is looking for her forever home, she is waiting in Cologne. Our wonderful Valentina is approximately 3 years old, neutered, 45 cm tall, and weighs around 14 kg. She is an intelligent, active female dog with a lot of potential and a huge heart. Valentina loves movement and would like to be both physically and mentally challenged. We could imagine that she would have a lot of fun with agility or other joint activities. Despite her energy, she is an incredibly cuddly female dog who would like to be very close to her primary caregiver. Valentina already knows city life and masters it problem-free. She even rides in the back of a bicycle – although she prefers to run alongside. She brings leashed walking and house training with her as well. When it comes to strangers, Valentina is initially a bit skeptical, but warms up quickly once she has built trust. She also loves children very much. With other dogs, Valentina is still unsure. She often gets unsettled by unfamiliar dogs, which sometimes leads to barking. With confident and balanced dogs, however, the connection works very well, and she enjoys joint encounters. She has a prey drive towards birds, geese, and rabbits. She has not yet had any contact with cats. For Valentina, we wish for people who can lead her with love, but also clarity and confidence. Experience with insecure dogs would be ideal, as behind her insecurity lies a great female dog that simply needs orientation. A home with a garden would be an absolute dream for her, but she can also live in a city environment. foster home: 50674 Cologne Who will finally give this special female dog the security and love she deserves?

About Valentina

What life with Valentina looks like

Valentina is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ankerhunde e.V. in Novi Grad.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇦Adopting from Bosnia and Herzegovina

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Valentina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Valentina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ankerhunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Valentina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Valentina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ankerhunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Valentina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Valentina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ankerhunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Valentina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
