Valerie

Mixed Breed · Male

Valerie, a tri-colored guinea pig female, was unfortunately left in a box and fortunately found in time. Despite this difficult start, she is a friendly, gentle and curious guinea pig who deserves a home where she can live safely and cared for. Valerie is attentive, loves cozy hiding places and is already beginning to explore her surroundings with interest. She is friendly but still cautious around people - with calm conversation and loving routine she quickly gains trust. As guinea pigs are very social animals, Valerie will only be placed in a home with existing companions. A harmonious group of guinea pigs gives her security and allows her to fully develop. Valerie has been given a second chance - now she is looking for people who can show her how beautiful a loving home with friends can be.

About Valerie

What life with Valerie looks like

Valerie is a adult mixed breed animal waiting at Landestierschutzverein Steiermark in Graz.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Valerie far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Valerie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Valerie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Landestierschutzverein Steiermark handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Valerie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Valerie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Landestierschutzverein Steiermark will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Valerie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Valerie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Landestierschutzverein Steiermark early rather than rehoming privately; they know Valerie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
