Vanile

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 3 years

I need a peaceful environment: No I can live in the city: Yes I am suitable for a family with children: Yes I get along with other dogs: Yes I have lived with cats: Not known I have the following special characteristics in terms of character or breed characteristics: No Things to consider regarding my health: No I have undergone the following health measures: Dental cleaning I have lived in home conditions with home care: No I have been at the shelter for over 2 years: No I can walk on a leash: Yes I was found in the middle of the countryside, running with a chain hanging from my neck. Maybe I had finally managed to break my shackles and escape from my miserable home. While running across the highway, good people saw my plight and managed to catch me. So my path led me to the shelter. Not much else is known about my past, as no one ever showed up to ask about me. Fortunately, the fact that I was kept on a chain already tells that my former owners do not deserve me. I am a young and energetic dog, and I love long walks with volunteers. I am friendly to both adults and children, so I fit well into many different families. It feels like I am always in a good mood and enjoy people's attention. I spread good cheer around me with my cheerful demeanor. It is so wonderful to receive pets and maybe even treats.

About Vanile

What life with Vanile looks like

Vanile is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pet Rescue Finland in Helsinki.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vanile, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vanile?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pet Rescue Finland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vanile on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vanile if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pet Rescue Finland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vanile already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vanile isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pet Rescue Finland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vanile and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
