Vanya

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Vanya and Vitya are brothers and come from Riisipere street, where homeless cats have previously come to my shelter. They hid under cars and moved around on a dangerous road, where one companion's life unfortunately ended in an accident. I considered it better to move them together with their mother Valya to a safer place. When brother Vitya arrived at the shelter, he was full of fight, while brother Vanya was more peaceful and did not cause much trouble. Vanya had already started to feel a bit better in the presence of a caretaker and no longer approached people with the same fear as his brother or mother. Both brothers have now moved to a cat house, where they are making new acquaintances. Although they are not kept side by side, sometimes you can notice that Vanya keeps close to his brother Vitya. Vanyakese can be freely petted, it doesn't scare him and he doesn't run away from it, sometimes he even enjoys being petted, but he doesn't like being picked up at all. He immediately starts squirming and quickly tries to wriggle himself free. At the foster home, the adjustment went quite smoothly and I believe it will go well in the new home too, but as always, you have to take into account that at some point the boy wants to be somewhere hidden and get familiar with the surroundings. If you would like to get to know the kitten better, please contact us!

ET·Show original

Vanya ja Vitya on vennad ning pärit on nad Riisipere tänavatelt, kust on varemgi koduta kiisusid minu juurde hoiule tulnud. Nad varjusid autode alla ja liikusid ringi ohtlikul sõiduteel, kus ühe kaaslase eluke kahjuks õnnetult ka lõppes. Pidasin paremaks nad koos ema Valyaga turvalisemasse kohta toimetada. Tekkis huvi? Täida ankeet ja paku kodu!

About Vanya

What life with Vanya looks like

Vanya is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ in Estonia.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇪🇪Adopting from Estonia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vanya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vanya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vanya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vanya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vanya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vanya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vanya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ET). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
