Vasco

Male · Adult · 5 years

Vasco you can meet at our Ochota point, the cat at ul. Grójeckiej 79. Vasco arrived at the animal shelter at the end of February and we have no idea why such a sweet little kitten is still waiting for his home! Vasco loves people, although his first love is food. He will eat literally any food that is given to him. Due to his size, it is important to remember about the appropriate diet and amount of activity in order to help him reduce weight. Fortunately, activity is not a problem for him - Vasco loves playing, and his absolute favorite is the fishing rod with the so-called Worm. Vasco can greet a person with a happy rubbing and seeking petting, but he does not like touch around the spine - and this must be respected. Vasco is available for adoption together with his cardboard scratching post, which he absolutely loves. For Vasco we are looking for a home where he will be the only cat. You can meet him every day. It would be best if the kitten was an only cat, as he doesn't tolerate the company of other cats. Before visiting, familiarize yourself with the adoption procedure:

About Vasco

What life with Vasco looks like

Vasco is a small adult cat waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Note from the shelter: Overweight - needs diet and exercise. Dislikes being touched on spine area. Must be only cat in household.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vasco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vasco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vasco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vasco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vasco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vasco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vasco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
