Venom

Belgian Malinois · Male · Young · 2 years

Venom is looking for his new family 🐾 This gorgeous Malinois, soon to be two years old, is searching for a new home following his former owner’s health issues. Venom is a typical dog of his breed: intelligent, energetic, and always eager to learn. Above all, he’s a working dog who needs regular activities, mental and physical stimulation, and a consistent environment in order to thrive fully. Highly motivated when working, he has already explored several disciplines such as mantrailing, canicross, and bite work. Used to being kept busy, he wouldn’t do well in a too sedentary lifestyle. Like many young Malinois, Venom may have trouble managing his excitement. When highly stimulated or frustrated, he sometimes nips as a way to express his emotions. He’ll therefore need to continue his training with people who can help him learn self-control and emotional regulation. Solitude is also an area that will need to be addressed gradually. Venom can become anxious when left alone and may show his discomfort by crying. Similarly, if he lacks adequate occupation or exercise suited to his needs, he might start destroying objects and even ingesting them. Proper management of his environment and a daily routine rich enough in activities will thus be essential. Despite these points of attention, Venom is above all a very endearing dog: affectionate, playful, close to humans, and always eager to share moments with his family. ✔️ Social with other dogs ❌ Doesn’t get along with cats ✔️ Has previously lived with older children We’re looking for a sporty, available, and committed family—someone ready to give him the time, activities, and guidance he needs to unlock his full potential. A good knowledge of dogs, ideally of this breed, is required. Venom won’t be placed as a first dog or in a family with young children. 📞 Interested in Venom? About Venom

What life with Venom looks like

Venom is a young adult belgian malinois dog waiting at SPA Valais in Uvrier.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Venom, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Venom?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Valais handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Venom on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Venom if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Valais will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Venom already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Venom isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Valais early rather than rehoming privately; they know Venom and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
