VERA

Vizsla · Female · Senior · 12 years

The approximately 50 cm large VERA has settled in well in her temporary home. She gets along well with the existing female dog and male dog, but decides on her own whether she likes other dogs. Due to her behavior and general condition, we suspect that VERA is significantly older than indicated in the vaccination passport. We are looking for a rather quiet home for the sweet girl, a garden would be desirable. Here she enjoys the fresh air and sunshine. She is not enthusiastic about long walks. Due to her breed, VERA has a hunting instinct, but this is limited due to her age. Cats that are experienced with dogs should be present. We wish for the grandma that she finally arrives and enjoys her twilight years. Who would like to set up a cozy bed for VERA and spoil her with lots of cuddles? Her mediator Julia Erhard is looking forward to your inquiry at 14 or by email to j. erhard-animale. de. You can also apply directly via our self-disclosure, which can be found here: www. casa-animale. de/vermittlung/selbstauskunft (copy the link and paste it in a new window). VERA will be spayed, vaccinated, dewormed and chipped with an EU pet passport after a positive pre-check for a deposit fee by arrangement. A 4DX Snap Test for Mediterranean diseases was performed before departure. VERA will not be given up for kennel or outdoor housing.

About VERA

What life with VERA looks like

VERA is a large senior vizsla dog waiting at Casa Animale e.V. in Gefrees.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting VERA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about VERA?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Casa Animale e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw VERA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt VERA if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Casa Animale e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is VERA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if VERA isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Casa Animale e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know VERA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
