Vicente ID No.: 1040233 Breed: Podenco-mixed breed Age: approx. 01/2021 Gender: male Shoulder height: approx. 45 cm Neutered: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Vicente – Cuddle bear looking for cuddle partner Podenco boy Vicente (*01.2021, approx. 45 cm) arrived at our animal shelter TripleA in Marbella (Spain) in January 2022 as an unchipped young dog—stressed, depressed, and confused. Thanks to the Spanish veterinarians, it was quickly determined that this sweet male dog suffers from a degenerative brain condition, which, however, does not impair him in any way as long as he receives the correct medication. Vicente is simply a sweet dog who longs for love and your cuddles and won’t want to leave your side once he’s with you. He loves nothing more than being close to his humans, snuggling up, and enthusiastically giving kisses. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs—he lives at the shelter in a large kennel together with many other dogs—but given the choice between playing and romping outside with them or rubbing against his human’s legs, sitting on their lap, and cuddling, he will always choose his human. We are now hoping to find this lovable boy a calm family or active seniors who can give him enough time to settle in. After all, the change of environment will surely pull him out of his comfort zone at first, and it might take a bit of patience and time until he feels secure and comfortable again so he can once more become the cuddly cat-like companion he is today. Any children in the household should already be a bit older and understand that one shouldn’t overwhelm a dog. Once he feels safe, though, he’ll surely enjoy those extra hands ready for cuddling. Other friendly dogs in the home who won’t bully him thanks to his calm nature are no problem either. And he especially gets along well with cats. Would you like to become Vicente’s new family, offer him security and safety, and ensure this enchanting boy feels completely at ease? Then we look forward to hearing from you! Vicente is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and has an EU pet passport. For travel arrangements, he has been tested for Mediterranean diseases, dewormed, and treated for fleas. About Vicente

What life with Vicente looks like

Vicente is a large adult podenco dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vicente, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vicente?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vicente on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vicente if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vicente already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vicente isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vicente and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
