Vicky

European Shorthair · Female · Senior · 14 years

Home sought for Vicky Some cats carry stories within them that aren't immediately visible – but you feel them when you meet them. Vicky is 14 years old, neutered, not vaccinated, and a true personality. She doesn't seek a typical home, but her very own place as a solitary princess, where she can find peace and simply be herself. Vicky has lost a lot in the last year: her sister and her beloved master. Without saying goodbye. Since then, she needs one thing above all – time. Time to build trust. Time to settle in. That's why we wish for her cat-experienced people who understand that closeness can grow. People who give her the space she needs and respect her fine signals. Vicky likes to purr – but she also clearly shows when she's had enough. And that should be readable. A quiet home, where she's around as much as possible, would be ideal. A balcony or a terrace from which she can observe the world would be the small extra that would make her great happiness perfect. Vicky doesn't seek a new beginning in the hustle and bustle – but a gentle transition into a loving later life. If you feel you might be exactly the person for her, feel free to contact us via PM. A message is the first step – for Vicky perhaps the most important. We live in Wolfsburg and brought Vicky from Berlin. Should there be serious interest and pick-up not be possible, we would, in principle, also be willing to bring her to her new home – provided the distance allows it. Interested parties can contact Fr. Kühn by email or phone.

About Vicky

What life with Vicky looks like

Vicky is a large senior european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzzentrum Ribbesbüttel in Germany.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vicky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vicky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzzentrum Ribbesbüttel handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vicky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vicky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzzentrum Ribbesbüttel will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vicky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vicky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzzentrum Ribbesbüttel early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vicky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
