Vio

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Vio is a young female mixed breed dog, approximately 1 year old (born around spring 2025), weighing 24 kg and standing 56 cm tall. She is spayed. Vio was abandoned along with a male dog on the outskirts of a village. The two dogs spent several months on a field, fed by a woman but without proper shelter. This woman asked us to spay the two dogs, but we were reluctant to return them to her, so they came into our care and are now hoping for a forever home. Vio is a friendly, playful, and affectionate young dog. She loves attention and physical contact, and enjoys being involved in activities with her human companions. She is open and social with people, whether she knows them or not. She also enjoys giving kisses and appreciates any form of attention, whether it's petting, playing together, or simply being together. Playing is one of her great passions. Vio loves balls and runs enthusiastically after them. She also enjoys playing games with people. She is a relatively active young dog that needs exercise and activity outdoors. However, if she has had enough exercise and can run around, she settles down well indoors and behaves pleasantly and relaxed. Vio is house-trained. She has not been left alone before, but she can stay with Costel for several hours without any problems. Vio generally gets along well with other dogs. Currently, she lives with Costel in a boarding kennel, and the two are good friends. Vio enjoys playing with other dogs and has a lively and energetic play style. She runs, jumps, and plays enthusiastically, which is why she is particularly well suited to active, confident dogs that enjoy lively play and don't mind if Vio gets a bit too wild. Having an existing dog would be great for Vio, especially if the dog also enjoys playing and can handle her energetic and playful nature.

Rasse: Mischling.

About Vio

What life with Vio looks like

Vio is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Grenzenlose Notfelle e.V. in Dittelbrunn.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Grenzenlose Notfelle e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Grenzenlose Notfelle e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Grenzenlose Notfelle e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
