Virginia

Belgian Malinois · Female

Virginia arrived at the animal shelter from the sanitarian facility along with Alejo. As with many dogs that come to us, we know nothing about her past life. We do not know where she came from, what experiences she has had, or how long she had to face uncertainty alone. The only thing we know is who she is today. Virginia is a noble, affectionate, and very sensitive dog. She loves being pampered and enjoys the company of people immensely. She seeks contact, affection, and those small moments of attention that seem to mean so much to her. She is an active and rather nervous dog, especially outside of her walks. She needs a family that understands the needs of her breed and can offer her physical activity, mental stimulation, and a balanced routine. Still, she also shows herself to be a smart and receptive dog; she knows how to sit when asked and is always attentive to what is happening around her. Virginia has constant energy and a desire to do things. She is one of those dogs that need to share adventures, learn, and feel part of a family concerned with her well-being. We would like her not to have to wait long behind the bars of a kennel enclosure. Behind that restlessness and energy lies an extraordinarily affectionate dog that deserves to finally find the stability she may have never known.

ES·Show original

About Virginia

What life with Virginia looks like

Virginia is a adult belgian malinois dog waiting at Protectora Malaga in Málaga.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Virginia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Virginia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Malaga handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Virginia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Virginia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Malaga will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Virginia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Virginia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Malaga early rather than rehoming privately; they know Virginia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
