Adopt Vita

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Vita is a sweet and playful cat named Frøken. She gets very close to people when she feels safe with them. She desires a safe and happy home with good outdoor opportunities. Vita can live with children but not with dogs. Hi, I'm Vita! Would you like to be my next playmate? Then I'll be very happy! I love to play and am especially fond of toy mice and chasing strings. If you play with me every day, I'll be very content. I also enjoy naps and when I've gotten used to you as part of my family, I like to snuggle in your lap. I'm a friendly and lovely cat who likes to follow my favorite people around. It's so silly to miss time with them! If you have visitors, I might be a bit reserved. I can also be a bit more reserved around men, but it's not a big problem. I'm a friendly and nice cat who neither claws nor bites, but if you try to put me in a carrier, I might put up a little resistance. But once I'm inside, it's fine to drive. I'd rather look out the window to avoid getting stuffy. I miss being outdoors and often spend my days looking out the window at everything that's happening. Therefore, I would like to live somewhere with good outdoor opportunities in safe surroundings that I can explore.

About Vita

What life with Vita looks like

Vita is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo in Oslo.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
