Vitae

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Gender: female Age: born around November 2022 (approximate estimated date) Size: small (8 kg - May 2025) Date of arrival at the shelter: May 2025 Spayed: yes Vaccinated: yes Microchipped: yes Compatibility: okay with dogs, okay with cats Temperament: fearful Progress: May 7, 2026: Vitae is doing well; she’s getting a little closer to us each day, and she’s very food-motivated. She’s starting to go out into the garden—if we’re not in the doorway and stand outside at a reasonable distance. While she enjoys being petted when we’re sitting or lying down, as soon as we stand up, she keeps her distance, even though she seems to be improving. She gets excited when we come home; she has a loud voice. She goes out a bit now, so she’s peeing less inside the house—but often still one time at night and one time in the morning. She’s never wanted to go out on rainy days. She still doesn’t accept either the harness or the leash, but she follows my other dogs into the house, so that’s not too bad. She’s making progress very, very slowly, but every little step forward is so rewarding. We’ve discovered her second passion after food... rolling around in smelly things (like mouse carcasses brought in by the cats). When she goes out, she’s integrating better and better with the other dogs; interactions took a long time to develop because of her fears, but it’s getting better. April 25, 2026: Vitae can’t live in an apartment—she doesn’t accept either the harness or the leash right now, still strongly afraid of going outside and even the slightest car noise. She’s a fearful dog who’s currently not suited at all for city life. She’s currently not house-trained because she doesn’t want to go outside—even with us, even though she’s been here for several weeks. Her trust is fragile; one day everything’s fine, she’s cuddling on the couch, but the next day she goes back to hiding under the stairs and hardly dares to go out anymore. It’s true that she’s very pretty and has an adorable baby face, but she’s a dog who requires enormous patience and still carries significant trauma and fears. April 14, 2026: Vitae is making progress—she sleeps on the couch, has adjusted well to the cats, and increasingly asks for attention and cuddles. She’s food-motivated and always very interested during mealtime. For now, she doesn’t go outside at all, and our only attempt made her very stressed, so that’ll have to wait. Loud noises can quickly scare her, just like us if we approach too quickly while standing up. She’s becoming a little grumpy miss who no longer hesitates to give us a “woof-woof-woof” if we don’t pay attention to her when she wants it. She shows quite a bit of resource guarding, especially around “sleeping” spots, toward the other dogs in the house—but we’re waiting until she’s more comfortable to see how that evolves and work on it. She’s also very afraid of the harness right now, but her progress is already amazing after just over a week. May 31, 2025: Vitae has been taking treats from our hands since today. Fearful upon arrival (May 2025) History: found wandering with BANCO in Pascani Contact: Spayed: yes Vaccinated: yes Microchipped: yes Compatibility: okay with dogs, okay with cats Temperament: April 25, 2026: Vitae can’t live in an apartment—she doesn’t accept either the harness or the leash right now, still strongly afraid of going outside and even the slightest car noise. About Vitae

What life with Vitae looks like

Vitae is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Remember Me France in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vitae, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vitae?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Remember Me France handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vitae on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vitae if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Remember Me France will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vitae already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vitae isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Remember Me France early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vitae and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
