Adopt Volt

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Volcik (born 2016) had an unsuccessful adoption attempt and was returned to the shelter due to the caregivers' fear of damage. He was adopted as a completely unsocialized dog who did not accept the leash and did not go out for walks. After six months in the home, he changed and became more friendly towards people and went out for walks from the kennel. Currently, in shelter conditions, Volcik is a dog that allows everything to be done with him. There are still fears about leashing, but even though Volt hides inside the kennel, he politely sits there and waits, and the actual leashing and going out for a walk do not cause any problems. He calmly and patiently endures all grooming procedures and does not protest during brushing, which is very important because of his coat, which requires regular maintenance. In April 2025, Volcik visited a groomer and got a new hairstyle (last photos). The procedure was endured patiently, calmly, and with trust in humans for the entire 40 minutes. It also turned out that he likes car rides. He walks very gently on the leash, does not pull. He allows to be stroked, although he does not initiate moments of closeness with humans. He also shows no signs of aggression towards humans and is a very calm dog. Edit: From January 19, 2026, Volcik lives in the Temporary Home with his beloved volunteer.

Edit: Od 19 stycznia 2026 Volcik mieszka w Domu Tymczasowym u swojej ukochanej wolontariuszki.

About Volt

What life with Volt looks like

Volt is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Volt, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Volt?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Volt on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Volt if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Volt already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Volt isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Volt and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
