FOKELY, a magnificent Pélomédusa subrafa turtle to adopt through the association UMA. (44640 Rouans) SIREN NUMBER: 794786228 GENDER: Male DATE OF BIRTH: 01/05/2018 IDENTIFICATION: 250268732521623 LOF/LOOF: Not identified NUMBER OF ANIMALS IN THE LITTER: Unknown WEIGHT: 300g COMPATIBILITY: Ok with everything but prefers to be alone in his aquarium. VETERINARY CARE AND HEALTH: In good health. REASON FOR REMOVAL OR ADOPTION: Abandoned. Fokely was found alone, by himself, by the Erdre river. Like a true acrobat, FoKely never misses an opportunity to be admired, this little clown stands on the surface doing somersaults when he sees his family. Always in search of food, this little gourmand could make it seem like he's still hungry even after just eating. He's a sporty one who loves to be on the move. However, like all aquatic turtles, he's a big stress ball as soon as he's out of the water, so for him to fully enjoy his beach, he must feel safe, a place that is reassuring, not too exposed. Ideally, in the water as well, it's important to respect his need for privacy by providing hiding spots like clay pots, driftwood, and robust aquatic plants… Avoid gravel, stones, plants, and plastic decor, which are reservoirs of bacteria and fatal if ingested, small intentions that will make him a well-adjusted turtle. This charming one with a devastating smile is a king in the water, he loves to swim among his guppy roommates, sometimes even chasing, even if it seems to be more of an amusement for him. His days are filled with sunbathing under his lamp, diving, and watching his human. His needs are fresh, even live, raw foods. This big African suitor will make you laugh, if you're in love with turtles, he might be for you. Come meet him in his foster family! PLACEMENT CONDITIONS: He will need a spacious aquarium (minimum 240L), filled to its maximum capacity, as this species is made for great swimmers. The water must be maintained between 22 and 25 degrees maximum, a suitable heater (1W/1L) will allow you to heat the water while monitoring its temperature. At the bottom: Loire or river sand, for building or filtration (it must be the finest possible and especially not of sea origin). You will need to provide a beach with a sand box (the same as in the water) above to keep the most aquatic space. The beach will be easily accessible with a ramp and the box deep and large enough for him to bury himself completely to estivate. Install a heating lamp with UVA and UVB (the SOLAR RAPTOR 80W is currently the most suitable and best-rated – replace it once a year as the UVs deteriorate), install it about 30 cm above the shell, to have a beach temperature of 30 degrees without burning. A good filtration is also necessary, like all aquatic turtles, fungal infections must be avoided, for this, an external filter, filtering 5 times the volume of water per hour – so for a 250, an external filter of 1250 L/h. One turtle per aquarium, as they are territorial and can be dangerous to each other out of their natural context. FOKELY, magnifique tortue Pélomédusa subrafa à adopter via l’association UMA. (44640 Rouans) NUMÉRO DE SIREN : 794786228 SEXE : Mâle DATE DE NAISSANCE : 01/05/2018 IDENTIFICATION : 250268732521623 LOF/LOOF : Non identifié NOMBRE D'ANIMAUX DANS LA PORTÉE : Inconnu POIDS : 300g ENTENTES : Ok tout mais seul dans son aquarium. SOINS VÉTÉRINAIRES ET SANTÉ : En bonne santé. CAUSE DU RETRAIT OU DE LA PRISE EN CHARGE : Abandon.

About Fokely

What life with Fokely looks like

Fokely is a small adult mixed breed animal waiting at 30 Millions d'Amis in Paris.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Fokely far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

Note from the shelter: Likely rescue animal from sanctuary for mistreated/abandoned equines

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fokely, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fokely?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. 30 Millions d'Amis handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fokely on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fokely if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — 30 Millions d'Amis will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fokely already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fokely isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with 30 Millions d'Amis early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fokely and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
