Volt

Male · Adult · 6 years

Despite his young age, Volt has been through a lot in his life... He ended up at the animal shelter for the second time. Considering the circumstances in which Volt ended up at Paluch twice, his stay here could be a gateway to a better, happier life. The first time, Volt arrived with a collar on his neck, and the second time we were informed that he had experienced physical abuse from his previous caregiver. Despite everything, he hasn't lost faith in people. In contact with humans, he can be withdrawn, but there is no aggression in that. He is slowly rebuilding trust and is increasingly seeking contact with volunteers - he is happy to see them and eagerly runs with them on walks. Volt is a young and energetic dog who needs a lot of exercise and long walks. During his walks, he tracks a lot, and water is definitely his element - even the smallest stream or pond can be spotted from a great distance. With great enthusiasm, he explores the area and focuses so much on sniffing that he may not hear the person, so the future caregiver will have to work on his recall. Treats will certainly be helpful in training commands, as Volt is capable of doing a lot for them 😊 At this moment, affection is not his priority - although he won't refuse a quick scratch, the biggest attraction for him are various kinds of scent games. The area that will require work is also Volta's relationships with other dogs. Currently, with the right approach, Volt can calmly pass by dogs, but the sight of other dogs is often stressful for him. We are looking for a home for Volta that will dedicate time to him. Families that will provide this young dog with daily interesting walks and will know how to support him in difficult situations for him. The future caregivers must be ready for joint training and socializing Volta with his species. For Volta, we are looking for a home located in a quiet neighborhood, with interesting walking areas nearby. We do not recommend Volta to people who are busy and lead a sedentary lifestyle. Volt will not thrive in a noisy house where there are small children. We do not know his attitude towards other pets, such as cats. If Volt were to end up in a home where there is already another dog or other animal, it would be necessary to introduce him to the resident.

About Volt

What life with Volt looks like

Volt is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: History of abuse and neglect, requires patient rehabilitation and socialization work

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Volt, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Volt?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Volt on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Volt if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Volt already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Volt isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Volt and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
