male Dobermann Born April 2017 Not in the animal shelter, private placement, contact see below! The animal shelter Cappel in Marburg does not take any responsibility for private placement ads or ads from other organizations. ________________________ Here the private ad (Nero lives in 56244 Westerwald): Nero – human-oriented, temperamental male Dobermann dog seeks experienced home Name: Nero Breed: Dobermann (purebred) Born: April 2017 (8 years old) Gender: male, not neutered Height/Weight: approx. 50 cm shoulder height, approx. 35–40 kg Vaccination status: rabies vaccinated, EU pet passport present, vaccinations no longer current Chip: present (not registered with Tasso) Current location: currently in farm care Nero is a very human-oriented, attached, and playful male Dobermann dog with a lot of temperament. He loves the contact with his "people," enjoys cuddling, and is overjoyed with attention. However, he is often a bit boisterous – his pinschy, energetic character is clearly noticeable: when he's happy, he jumps and spins around like a little dog, sometimes forgetting that he is a large, strong male dog. He is very active, loves movement, and needs people who can handle his energy and at the same time provide him with calm and structure. Due to his high energy consumption, he currently receives a calorie- and protein-rich special food, as he otherwise quickly loses weight. Compatibility with others With other dogs, Nero's preference decides – some he likes, some he doesn't. He must be fed in a spatially separated area from other dogs, as a conflict occurred in the past (without injuries). Since then, the rule is: feeding must be done separately and out of sight of other dogs. There are no certain experiences with cats, but given his playful and stormy nature, it is likely that they would be seen as playthings. He does not know children – due to his size, strength, and boisterousness, small children should not live in the household (not out of aggression, but because he might simply run over them). Specialities / Notes Nero is naturally very nervous and easily agitated – this has accompanied him since he came from abroad (likely Romania, a killing station). In the past, he even had two concussions because he ran through the house in his restlessness and couldn't brake in time. Therefore, he needs experienced, calm, and confident people who can provide him with security, clear structures, and a stress-free environment. With patience, management, and understanding of his nature, he can be a very loyal, loving companion – but not a beginner dog. Care and placement wish Nero currently lives in farm care and has known this environment for years. Ideally, he is sought as a single dog with experienced dog owners who can provide him with a lot of attention, clear leadership, and a calm, structured environment. Whether home or farm is secondary – what matters are experience, time, and a good sense of his character. Due to his age (8 years), Nero is primarily seeking a place where he can arrive and stay, not being passed around again. männlich Dobermann Geboren 04/2017 Nicht im Tierheim, Privatvermittlung, Kontakt s. unten! About Von Privat Nero

What life with Von Privat Nero looks like

Von Privat Nero is a large senior doberman dog waiting at Tierheim Marburg in Marburg.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Von Privat Nero, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Von Privat Nero?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Von Privat Nero on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Von Privat Nero if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Von Privat Nero already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Von Privat Nero isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Von Privat Nero and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
