Adopt Walia

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 3 years

Dear friends, we would like to present to you Wali. After many months of intensive treatment, diet, and physiotherapy, we can finally look for a home for our brave cat Walia who needs an extraordinary home, a home that will meet her needs so she can function and enjoy each new day with joy. A home just as unique as our little cat Walia is a cat that requires a special diet, but we guarantee that it won't require much effort from the future caregiver, we manage. Walia was injured, resulting in her losing feeling in her tail (it was amputated) and she fought for a long time to regain control over defecation. We also fought for her mobility, it turns out that the key is currently diet. We tried everything, Walia ate high quality commercial food, there were many attempts and various approaches, unfortunately, each ended in failure. Our friendly future veterinary nutritionist suggested a BARF diet. BARF is nothing else but meat with appropriately chosen supplements. We prepare the mixture, for example, once a month based on a ready-made recipe. Anyway, we will explain and show everything, it's not anything scary! Nutrition is important and in Wali's case it was a shot in the dark. For many months Walia has also been helped by dogs and cats - Marta Kaczor. Electrical stimulation and other tricks from Mrs. Marta help Wali stabilize her bowel movements. At the moment Walia controls her needs, sometimes we find something outside the litter box, so we think she is ready for adoption. Walia is a lively cat! The future owner definitely won't have a boring life with her. She loves all toys and cuddles.

Walia to kotka pełna życia!

About Walia

What life with Walia looks like

Walia is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Schronisko Konin in Poland.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Walia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Walia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Konin handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Walia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Walia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Konin will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Walia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Walia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Konin early rather than rehoming privately; they know Walia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
