Adopt Wanda

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten

Name: Wanda Age: 2-4 years (as of January 2026) Sex: female, neutered Wanda is a very special cat who has already endured a lot and shown admirable strength. She was taken in as a stray after being hit by a car. At first, the difficult decision loomed to amputate her injured leg. However, thanks to a complex surgery where a plate was inserted into her hip, Wanda got a second chance. The effort paid off: she has recovered remarkably well and is now beginning to cautiously put weight on and move her leg again. Even though Wanda doesn't walk perfectly round anymore, she manages very well in everyday life. The affected leg currently serves as support but does not significantly limit her quality of life. She has learned to live with this small limitation and masters her daily routine calmly and confidently. Wanda is a friendly, open cat with a very pleasant nature. She loves human interaction, seeks closeness, and enjoys cuddles, but is not pushy.

About Wanda

What life with Wanda looks like

Wanda is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Oellschuetz in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wanda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wanda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Oellschuetz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wanda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wanda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Oellschuetz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wanda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wanda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Oellschuetz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wanda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
