adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! As soon as Wayra is allowed to leave the cage of his Romanian foster home, he immediately shows what a lively, open, and trusting dog he is. Despite already having passed two and a half years where no one has shown interest in the sweet male dog, he still hasn't lost his joy and hope. Back then, he was caught on the street—like so many stray dogs in Romania. Unfortunately, we don't know where he came from or what he has experienced. It is clear, however, that it wasn't much good, because when found, the handsome male dog was rather reserved in his interactions with people. Wayra is a great guy, estimated to be around 7 years old, and thus has the perfect age to start anew. He is past the wild phase of his life but still a male dog who hopefully has half his life ahead of him. He gets along well with his fellow animals. At his approximate height of 48 cm, he is neither too big nor too small and has a sporty, slender build. His large ears are attentively pricked, and they radiate interest and attentiveness. What breed Wayra carries in his genes, we do not know, but we would like to introduce the perky, intelligent male dog to people who are excited to do something with him, loving, dog-enthusiastic people who want to show him the beautiful side of life. Wayra means "wind" in the Indian language, and the lively Wayra will surely develop into a charming whirlwind once he arrives in his new home. A visit to a positively working dog training class after the adjustment period would surely bring joy to Wayra. Regular training could strengthen his self-confidence and keep him physically and mentally engaged, and mutual understanding and trust between the dog and the owner could grow more quickly. Is it perhaps his dark fur color that is holding him back? Still, Wayra is joyful and full of hope, but how long will it last? Even though his foster home has taken care of him… Wayra suffers under the conditions, because a home cannot be replaced. Wayra travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport to his new home. He will be accompanied by a positive foster home! We thank the anonymous namespender who gave the lovable Wayra his name and thus a personal identity. As of: 13.01.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Wayra

What life with Wayra looks like

Wayra is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wayra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wayra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wayra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wayra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wayra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wayra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wayra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
