Wednesday

Greyhound Β· Unknown Β· Adult Β· 4 years

Wednesday is in foster care near Southampton, Hampshire, she arrived with us on the 28th October 2026 and she was born on the 7th of July 2022. She is a quiet girl until she gets to know you and then shows the oodles of character that she has! Wednesday enjoys going for a walk and she is keen to investigate all that she finds. She walks nicely on the lead usually by your side. She can jump into a car ready for her next adventure. This little girl is a stunner to look at, those big adorable eyes and her dainty trot but don’t be fooled, she will do anything if she thinks there’s some extra food around! She has been very well behaved within the home environment, nothing seems to phase her. Wednesday gets on well with the other greyhounds that she lives with. She can easily walk on different types of home flooring with ease. Wednesday loves her bed, she would like a nice soft, padded one that is nice and warm too! Wednesday has had no accidents in the house since she has arrived. She can be very quiet within in the house, you could almost forget she is with you she is that quiet! This little lass doesn’t jump up at you or in the kitchen, although she hasn’t been left unattended in that room yet, time will tell! She has met some small doggie friends, she just wants to say hello which she does in a very polite way but she would rather have a lean from their owners or treat or two! Wednesday loves her food and will give you a clean bowl at every meal. She has shown little interest in toys so far but once she has settled completely into her new home we are sure this will change. Wednesday could be homed as an only greyhound or one that could live with another dog. She is a quieter girl so settling into a new home with another dog would give her more confidence but equally she would adapt to living as an only dog but would just need more time to settle in. Wednesday could live with children over the age of 10 years. She is very gentle with taking treats from your hand, she w

About Wednesday

What life with Wednesday looks like

Wednesday is a large adult greyhound dog waiting at Greyhound Lifeline in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wednesday, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wednesday?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Greyhound Lifeline handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wednesday on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wednesday if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Greyhound Lifeline will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Wednesday already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wednesday isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Greyhound Lifeline early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wednesday and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
