Weimaraner „Theo“

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 3 years

Theo is a 3.5-year-old neutered Weimaraner male dog (*19.12.2022) and seeks a permanent, quiet home with clear structures. He unfortunately comes with a certain “package” and has both positive and negative traits. In the care of his primary caregiver (me), Theo is exemplary – there are no problems here. These issues mainly arise when other people come into his vicinity (when he is in the waiting position). He then tends to have surprise behaviors, which is why he is often muzzled in certain situations. Theo is no beginner dog and will only be placed in truly suitable hands with support. Theo loves retrieving, search games, and goes willingly into the water (not swimming but water walking). He can be left alone – although he has not had to do this permanently so far, this ability to be left alone is situational and can be built upon. Theo is generally good on a leash. However, he is sometimes in a hunting mode, from which he can be easily pulled back. Due to his surprise behaviors and hunting ambitions, Theo is not in free run with me – he gets free run on enclosed grounds, where recall and orientation are always with me. Theo weighs 28 kg and is one of the lighter Weimaraners. He unfortunately has a pronounced food intolerance, a sensitive stomach, and digestive issues. I seem to have this problem under control now with new horse dry food. In summary, Theo is a dog with two personalities – an angel with me and a devil with others. The beginning will be difficult, but Theo can become a great companion through consistent guidance and time. Further information: Jagdhunde in Not e. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

DE·Show original

Weitere Informationen: Jagdhunde in Not e.V Kornelia Ritter oder ,

About Weimaraner „Theo“

What life with Weimaraner „Theo“ looks like

Weimaraner „Theo“ is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Jagdhunde in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Weimaraner „Theo“, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Weimaraner „Theo“?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Jagdhunde in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Weimaraner „Theo“ on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Weimaraner „Theo“ if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Jagdhunde in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Weimaraner „Theo“ already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Weimaraner „Theo“ isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Jagdhunde in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Weimaraner „Theo“ and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
