Wellensittiche

Budgerigar · Male · 2 years

Dear interested parties, the number of these curious and colorful birds is constantly changing. Sometimes the Wellensittiche are delivered individually as found animals or occasionally as a larger group/swarm. The gender distribution is naturally very different. Therefore, we ask you to send us an email with your phone number if you are interested. We would also be happy to receive a photo and the dimensions of the cage or aviary. We will call you back as soon as possible and work together to find the right Wellensittiche for your family. UPDATE (11.05.26): All current Wellensittiche have been rehomed. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About Wellensittiche

What life with Wellensittiche looks like

Wellensittiche is a very small adult budgerigar bird waiting at Tierheim Wiesbaden in Wiesbaden.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wellensittiche, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wellensittiche?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Wiesbaden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wellensittiche on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wellensittiche if I live in another country?: Sometimes. Whether a bird can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Tierheim Wiesbaden what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Wellensittiche already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: What a bird comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Tierheim Wiesbaden directly what is included and what Wellensittiche still needs.
What happens if Wellensittiche isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Wiesbaden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wellensittiche and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
