Wilt

English Bulldog · Male · Adult · 7 years

Wonderful Wilt is looking for his forever home! This handsome boy is a friendly and affectionate character who loves spending time with his people and being involved in day-to-day life. As Wilt has grown in confidence during his stay with us, we've also learned more about the support he needs, and he has been working incredibly hard on his training. Wilt has shown resource guarding behaviours around certain items, particularly his food bowl and treasured belongings. Whilst in a foster home with a member of staff, he began learning new ways to cope and has since made fantastic progress with his "leave" cue and trading items for rewards. He has come a long way, and his new family will need to continue this training to help him build on his success. Wilt is looking for an experienced, adult-only home with owners who understand resource guarding and are committed to providing him with patience and consistency. He thrives with routine, enjoys his walks, and loves having a safe space where he can relax. He is looking for a quieter home with a private, secure garden where he can enjoy some off-lead time and decompress. In the right home, Wilt is a wonderfully rewarding companion with plenty of personality, who will repay kindness and understanding with lots of affection and loyalty. If you think Wilt could be the perfect addition to your family, contact our rehoming team today! If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Wilt, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest.

About Wilt

What life with Wilt looks like

Wilt is a small adult english bulldog dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wilt, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wilt?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wilt on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wilt if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wilt already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wilt isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wilt and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
