Wiluś

Male · Senior · 16 years

Wiluś recently came to us and we are still getting to know each other. He looks like a sweet guest! He is happy to go for a walk, likes people, and gets along with other dogs in different ways. For now, he lives alone in the cage. Despite that, he has the potential to be a dog who doesn't cause trouble, knows the leash, knows when to sit, comes over and offers his head for petting. He smiles beautifully for photos. And those eyes of a honey color, perfectly matched to his fur! But there is also something very sad in him - you can see that he misses his person, sometimes he sadly cries in the cage. Wiluś is a compact dog, one that doesn't take up much space, and in case of need, you could even carry him under your arm (we haven't tried it yet, because there was no need for it). His fur is smooth and the approaching winter will be a challenge for him in the animal shelter. We hope that someone will quickly notice this lovely gentleman. Will there be someone who can provide him with a peaceful retirement? Wiluś is about 15 years old.

PL·Show original

About Wiluś

What life with Wiluś looks like

Wiluś is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Senior dog needing gentle care, shows signs of separation anxiety and sadness

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wiluś, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wiluś?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wiluś on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wiluś if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wiluś already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wiluś isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wiluś and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
