adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Winja has found a home! Her story: Winja and her siblings Annegret, Zippi, Zoe, Bonsi, and Bazil were found on the street with their mother, just two months old, near the Bistrita train station. The owner of a nearby house observed the litter of puppies and their mother until one day he heard the puppies whimpering and barking, left alone. We suspect that the mother was tragically killed by a train or something similar, leaving the puppies vulnerable. The Romanian finder could not locate the mother anywhere and brought the defenseless puppies to the shelter in Bistrita. Now, Winja eagerly awaits her new home. Winja is a uncomplicated dream dog. She is very people-oriented and loves to snuggle. Typical of a puppy, she is also very playful and loves to play with her siblings. Living with other dogs is not a problem for her. Unfortunately, a compatibility with cats could not be tested. At just two months old, Winja already has the typical, cute puppy expression. Her fluffy, dark fur with light spots is also very pretty. She is likely to grow into a medium to large female dog. Just like her siblings, Winja was born without a tail. Therefore, she cannot be rehomed to Switzerland. Her new family should be aware that Winja has not yet experienced life in a loving family. She still needs to learn the whole puppy ABC and is about to go through puberty. She needs people who can approach her with love and patience, and may need to attend some positive dog training classes. She should be given the opportunity to learn from her mistakes. Leash walking, house training, and being left alone are still foreign concepts to her. During puberty, she will likely test boundaries and may forget some things she has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Winja will definitely make a great lifelong companion. Winja is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She brings an EU pet passport with her and can be rehomed after a positive foster home trial. We would also be very happy to have a foster home for the sweet mouse! Who will give Winja a loving forever home? Many thanks to Nicole! You named Winja. Date: 16.01.

Vielen Dank an Nicole! Du hast Winja ihren Namen geschenkt. About Winja

What life with Winja looks like

Winja is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Winja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Winja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Winja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Winja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Winja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Winja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Winja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
