Winnie

Cocker Spaniel · Female · Adult · 6 years

Cockapoo Winnie, at Old Windsor, is looking for a patient and understanding home. Winnie is looking for an adult-only home who are willing to give her the time she needs to build trust and confidence in her new environment. As an active girl, Winnie loves getting out on her walks and exploring the world around her. She particularly enjoys quieter woodland walks where she can sniff and explore. She also has a playful side and absolutely loves splashing in paddling pools and jumping through puddles whenever she gets the chance. She can be nervous when meeting new people, but once she gets to know someone and feels comfortable, she is happy to enjoy plenty of fuss and affection from those she trusts. She can also be worried by handling and is looking for a new home who are committed to continuing the training she has already started. Her new family will need to be able to read her body language, respect her boundaries and allow her to build confidence at a pace that suits her. Winnie is currently working on her social skills around other dogs and generally prefers her own company. She has been making good progress with the training put in place here, and her new home will need to continue this work and provide gentle, positive socialisation at a pace that she is comfortable with. Winnie may need a little extra time and understanding, but for the right home she will make a wonderful companion. If you can offer her the patience, support and commitment she needs, Winnie is ready to start her next chapter. About Winnie

What life with Winnie looks like

Winnie is a small adult cocker spaniel dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Winnie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Winnie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Winnie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Winnie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Winnie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Winnie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Winnie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
