Winnie

English Bulldog · Female · Adult · 7 years

Winnie forms strong bonds with her people and can sometimes find it difficult when they are not around, although she has previously been left for 3 to 4 hours. She is house trained and will let you know when she needs to go out by scratching at the door. Having enjoyed a life of luxury, Winnie is used to sleeping on her owner's bed and loves nothing more than being close to her people. She enjoys her gentle strolls and is looking for a home that can help her continue her weight-loss journey. Winnie is looking for a quiet retirement home where she can enjoy all the attention she deserves, with a few gentle walks and plenty of cuddle breaks throughout the day. Winnie has so much love to give and will make a wonderful addition to her new home. We can't wait to see her settled in, enjoying all the affection, comfort and cuddles that come with being part of a loving family. * This dog is currently being rehomed under our Homestay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Homestay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with owners to minimise the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative suitable dog. Winnie is a gorgeous 7-year-old French Bulldog looking for a home where she can enjoy all of life's little luxuries. She is not able to live with another dog as she does not gain much from their company and would much prefer to have her favourite humans all to herself. On walks, Winnie is friendly with other dogs but will mostly ignore them, choosing instead to focus on enjoying her stroll. Winnie could live with secondary school aged children who can give her space when she needs it, whilst also showering her with the love and attention she adores. She is not a very active girl and would much rather spend her day curled up on your lap enjoying plenty of cuddles.

About Winnie

What life with Winnie looks like

Winnie is a adult english bulldog dog waiting at Dogs Trust Bridgend in Mid Glamorgan.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Winnie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Winnie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Bridgend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Winnie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Winnie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Bridgend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Winnie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Winnie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Bridgend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Winnie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
