KITTEN WINONA AND KITTEN MEIDEN 3 and 4 years old | Not suitable with children | Suitable with other cats | Indoor cats Pusia Winona and Meiden are looking for a family together! Get to know Winona and Meiden better. Winona is longhaired and completely black. She was caught in the summer of 2023. At that time, she was pregnant, completely confused, scared and very young, under one year old. That means she is now about 3 years old. She is completely black and longhaired. It has taken Winona a very long time to become safe around people. She is still a bit skeptical and hisses if someone comes too quickly towards her, but she has also learned to love cuddles! This is a cat that must be experienced to understand. She runs to the household members every morning along with her foster sisters to get cuddles and show her loyalty. She has come a long way from where she was, and we see that it is now approaching the time when she is ready for adoption by the right family. Winona may never be an outdoor cat, she is too skeptical for that. However, she is the perfect indoor cat, and shows great progress every single day. Meiden is gray tabby/tiger with white markings. She was caught outdoors in the fall of 2024 along with a litter of kittens. It later turned out that the kittens were not hers, but she has cared for them and taken care of them. Already here you can see what personality this cat has. When she came to the foster home, she was afraid, hissed and hid with the small ones. As the kittens grew up and moved out, Meiden came forward as the wonderful cuddly cat she really is! Where there is a person or someone who can be cuddled with, she is there. There is no kinder cat than Meiden. You can cuddle on the belly, between the paws or anywhere, she loves it! Meiden is fond of all cats, and when new foster kittens come to the home, she is the first to accept the newcomer. Meiden is also about 3 years old, longhaired tricolor. Winona and Meiden have a very strong friendship, and it is probably mostly Meiden who has helped Winona to trust people. Both cats are a bit nervous about too much noise, and therefore should not be in a home with young children. They currently live together with a dog and teenagers, and this is completely problem-free. These two beautiful girls want a home together where they can get lots of cuddles, play and socialization. They must be indoor cats in their new home. MEIDEN AND WINONA WILL BE RELOCATED TOGETHER. Winona and Meiden have both had a health check, vaccination and deworming treatment, and they are neutered and microchipped. The package price at the veterinary clinics in Tromsø for a male cat is about NOK 4000, while for a female cat you have to pay about NOK 6000. So you save a lot of money by getting a cat from the animal welfare organization!

Allerede her ser man hvilken personlighet denne pusia har. About Winona

What life with Winona looks like

Winona is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Norge Tromsø in Tromsø.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Winona, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Winona?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Norge Tromsø handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Winona on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Winona if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Norge Tromsø will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Winona already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Winona isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Norge Tromsø early rather than rehoming privately; they know Winona and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
