Wolf

Male · Young · 3 years

Wolf is a 3-year-old German Shepherd male, born in September 2023. He came to us after being abandoned by his owner. Don't worry, Wolf, we're here to find you a home where you'll never be left alone again! **Character:** Wolf is a strong-willed dog. He can be selective about people and will let you know if he's not interested. He's not a big "pleaser" and isn't ideal for work. However, he loves to play and sniff! He might enjoy tracking, which could be a great fit for him! Long walks are perfect for him. When he likes you, he'll show it and be happy to be around you. He's house-trained and knows indoor life. **Care:** Wolf is a bit of a drama queen at the vet. He's up-to-date on vaccinations and regular check-ups. **Finding a Home:** Wolf needs an experienced owner with a lot of outdoor space. A securely fenced yard is a must! An active home with plenty of walks is ideal. He'd love to be part of a family. He showed interest in larger female dogs at the shelter, so he might be a good match for a spayed adult female. He won't be placed with cats. **Children:** Wolf isn't suitable for homes with children under 12. His temperament is too strong for that age group.

AchtergrondDeze stevige kerel is Wolf.

About Wolf

What life with Wolf looks like

Wolf is a large young adult dog waiting at Dierenasiel Sint-Truiden in Sint-Truiden.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wolf, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wolf?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Sint-Truiden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wolf on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wolf if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Sint-Truiden will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wolf already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wolf isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Sint-Truiden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wolf and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
