Adopt Woody

Labrador Retriever · Male · Young · 3 years

Woody is looking for a fun, active family who can continue his training, help him channel his excitement in positive ways, and give him all the love and companionship he craves! Woody is a really lovely, friendly boy who is full of energy and would thrive in an active home. He’s looking for a family who can give him plenty of exercise, including long walks, adventures, and lots of time and attention. Woody absolutely loves people and gets very excited when meeting new friends—he just wants to say hello to everyone! Because of this, he can be a little wriggly and vocal on lead, and will need ongoing training to improve his lead manners. He was previously housetrained, and was left alone for a couple of hours, though will need a home where this can be built up gradually as he did show some anxiety. Woody can be frustrated when meeting dogs out on walks, so would benefit from home that will help him learn to stay calm and make good choices around other dogs, and also have access to quieter walking areas when needed . Woody is much more focused on people than toys, so he’ll need some encouragement and reassurance to learn how to play independently and enjoy toys as part of his routine. Woody could live with children aged 11 and over who are confident around dogs and happy to engage with his playful, energetic nature.

About Woody

What life with Woody looks like

Woody is a young adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Kenilworth.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Woody, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Woody?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Kenilworth handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Woody on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Woody if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Kenilworth will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Woody already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Woody isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Kenilworth early rather than rehoming privately; they know Woody and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
