Wookiee

Male · Adult · 4 years

Wookiee came to the animal shelter as a less than one-year-old dog. He was then still a young, curious puppy who had to grow up among bars and concrete kennels. Instead of a home, a soft bed and his own family - his daily life became the animal shelter. Fortunately, the monotony of being confined is broken by walks, which are a great joy for him and which he always fully enjoys. Over time, Wookiee has grown up and matured. He is no longer the mischievous, unruly youngster who once came to us, although you can still see that characteristic glint in his eyes, proof that life can still delight him. Now Wookiee walks with dignity, unhurriedly, carefully checking what stories other dogs have left behind. He reacts to four-legged companions in need with composure - even when one of them barks at him. Wookiee is an extremely sensitive and caring dog. He loves human contact - he appreciates touch, moments of closeness and the presence of people he has known for a long time, but he also opens up with sympathy to new "uncles and aunts". He can show how much he needs closeness, while remaining a dog who respects his own space and expects the human to respect it as well. For Wookiee, we are looking for an exceptional home - one that will treat him like a true partner. Someone who will understand that Wookiee doesn't need noise or chaos, but rather peace, patience and stability. The ideal caregiver is someone who will provide him with long, unhurried walks, take him on trips and allow him to enjoy the world in his own pace. Wookiee will show how wonderful a dog he is, if only someone gives him a chance. For our foster, we are looking exclusively for a home with a garden - a place where he will be able to go out for fresh air at any time, breathe and feel comfortable. We don't recommend him for a home with children, because he will best find his way in a quiet, predictable environment, next to adults who will respect his needs. Wookiee is waiting for his person who will see not only a beautiful dog in him, but a loyal companion for better and for worse.

PL·Show original

Z biegiem czasu Wookiee dorósł i dojrzał. Na czworonożnych towarzyszy niedoli reaguje z opanowaniem - nawet wtedy, gdy któryś z nich go obszczekuje. Wookiee to pies niezwykle wrażliwy i czuły. Anna 512776497 Agnieszka 692760589 Marcin 507037541

About Wookiee

What life with Wookiee looks like

Wookiee is a large adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires house with garden, quiet environment without children

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wookiee, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wookiee?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wookiee on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wookiee if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wookiee already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wookiee isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wookiee and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
