Wout

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 4 years

Wout arrived at the our shelter after living for a while as a stray in a garden. Left to his own devices, he was finally able to be secured and taken in to find a lifelong family. He is a gentle, affectionate cat that is close to humans. He enjoys company and is particularly at ease with children, with whom he shares moments of complicity. His sociable temperament makes him a pleasant companion to live with on a daily basis. Health-wise, Wout is a carrier of feline AIDS. This particularity does not prevent him from leading a happy life, but he must live exclusively indoors to preserve his health and safety. As for his relationships, Wout does not get along with other cats and can be feisty towards other animals of the same species. He will therefore need to be the only feline in the home to live in peace. Wout is looking for an attentive and kind family willing to offer him a stable, safe, and affectionate environment. In return, he will know how to offer a lot of tenderness and share precious moments of complicity with his future home.

FR·Show original

About Wout

What life with Wout looks like

Wout is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Perwez) in Sans Collier.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wout, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wout?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Perwez) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wout on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wout if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Perwez) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wout already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wout isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Perwez) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wout and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
