Adopt Xenon

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 11 months

During our project tour in late October 2025, we also met this lovely young male dog at the Canile Arzachena: Xenon. He had only recently arrived at the shelter. He had apparently been abandoned, and the Vigili had picked him up while he was wandering aimlessly and completely alone on the outskirts of Arzachena. At the shelter, he was housed with the sibling group Fefe, Flute, and others in the large puppy enclosure, and the dog kids had a lot of fun together. Xenon was also very happy when we entered the enclosure and gave him so much attention. Xenon is affectionate, open, playful, and lively. Unfortunately, the siblings have all since traveled to Germany, and Xenon has now moved to a different enclosure, where he certainly has nice company again. But dog friends are no substitute for a family, and the shelter is no substitute for a real home. That’s why we want to bring the friendly Xenon to Germany as soon as possible. We are sure there are people here who are exactly right for him and would like to give him the dream home with close family ties. Xenon was able to travel to his German foster home. February 2, 2026: Xenon settled into his foster home in no time and quickly touches hearts with his open, friendly nature. Curious and attentive, he explores his surroundings, showing just how much potential he has. Sometimes Xenon is still a bit boisterous and needs calm, understanding interactions. Children in his future home should already be older and approach him with calmness and understanding so he can continue to gain confidence. Currently, Xenon is learning something new every day. At the foster home, they are already diligently working on harness training and leash walking – and he is making wonderful progress. Xenon still wants to learn a lot and is looking for a home where he will be challenged and supported. Nose work especially brings him great joy and is a wonderful way to give him meaningful mental stimulation. For Xenon, we wish for a sporty, active home with people who can give him security and enjoy exploring the world together with him. ;feature=youtu.be April 6, 2026: Xenon has developed wonderfully over the past few weeks and has integrated beautifully into the life of his foster family. It’s lovely to see how naturally he now belongs and handles his daily routine. He shows his best side especially around children – friendly, open, and always ready for a greeting. In general, Xenon meets people very openly and quickly wins hearts with his charming demeanor. He is also making great progress in everyday life: putting on his harness goes very obediently, and Xenon has already learned that cats, chickens, and horses are part of the family and not to be chased. While his hunting instincts cannot be denied, they are well-manageable and can be channeled in the right direction. He is house-trained, travels easily by car, and even jumps in voluntarily. As a sporty companion, Xenon loves being active outdoors, but he also shows that with proper exercise, he can settle down well and relax. He even accompanies his foster family to the horse stable – with a safe distance, even the large animals are no longer a problem for him. Honestly, we don’t understand why this wonderful guy is still waiting for his forever home. Xenon has so much to offer and is ready to finally arrive with his own people. If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that adoption means not only great joy but also work and significant responsibility, we look forward to hearing from you. We facilitate adoptions nationwide.

About Xenon

What life with Xenon looks like

Xenon is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Xenon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Xenon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Xenon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Xenon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Xenon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Xenon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Xenon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
