Adopt Yuke

Male · Adult · 5 years

Yoko and Yuke lived previously with a family of two children. After the breakup of the couple, there was no longer enough time to take care of the two dogs. Therefore, the family decided to bring the dogs to Melampo. Both dogs show themselves to be highly people-oriented, loving, and cuddly at the animal shelter. They actively seek the company of humans and enjoy cuddles and attention very much. Playing is also one of their favorite activities, and they are very happy about a belly rub. Yoko is particularly trusting and confident, while Yuke is still a bit more nervous, but both are not afraid. The two are very closely connected and rely heavily on each other. A shared home would therefore be particularly beautiful. Since this is not always possible as experienced, they will also be rehomed individually for adoption. They get along well with other dogs and move around problem-free in the large group of dogs in the run. They are already used to walking on a leash and go for walks calmly. They also handle car rides calmly and without fuss. Both have been tested negative for Mediterranean diseases at the vet. Yuke does not get along with cats. Yoko and Yuke are two very friendly, clingy dogs who will surely adapt well to a new home with a bit of time and affection. Just because they have already lived in a family, they are certainly looking forward to leaving the shelter life behind. Maybe a shared home will even work out, our fingers are crossed!

About Yuke

What life with Yuke looks like

Yuke is a adult dog waiting at Melampo in Melampo.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yuke, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yuke?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Melampo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yuke on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yuke if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Melampo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Yuke already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yuke isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Melampo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yuke and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
