adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Yumi has found her home! Her story: May we introduce? Yumi – a delicate, beautiful female dog, finally able to experience what safety and security feel like. She had the chance to travel from Bistrița to Germany and now lives in a foster home in Munich, where she is learning to trust life step by step. After her first bath, a whole new dog emerged: soft, shiny fur, sometimes a bit frizzled, and that loving, cautious gaze. Yumi is simply love at first sight, or? In new situations, she remains cautious at first and closely observes her people. She prefers to take a step back, observe first, and then show courage when she notices someone by her side. She initially meets strangers submissively, but opens up beautifully once she feels safe. Then she snuggles up closely and enjoys the closeness to the fullest. In the house, Yumi is now playful and with a hint of mischief. She knows what she wants, communicates fairly, and gets along well with the existing female dog. Outdoors, she is curious, works a lot with her nose, and suggests that a prey drive is present. Nothing unusual, but something to keep in mind in everyday life. She comes to rest well in the house and is already house-trained. At the same time, Yumi is still at the very beginning of her dog life in a family. She doesn’t know or only knows little about: everyday situations, new places, safe handling on the leash, visitors, car rides, or vet visits. She is now learning the entire dog ABC in small steps and at her own pace. What is important is that her new people continue where the foster home left off: calmly explain, positively reinforce, and not overwhelm her. A positively working dog training class can be a great help here. Whoever decides for Yumi gets no "ready-made" dog. You get a sensitive, grateful companion who shows a little more every day how much love and courage are in her. Yumi travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, with an EU pet passport, after a positive. Who gifts this magical dog soul a home where she can forever belong? A heartfelt thank you to Viviane. You gave Yumi her name and thus made the first step into a new life possible. As of: 10.01.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 10.01.2026

About Yumi

What life with Yumi looks like

Yumi is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yumi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yumi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yumi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yumi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Yumi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yumi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yumi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
