Yuna

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 10 months

* For more information, please read “Why we are cautious about placing our dogs with families that have (young) children.” Character: Yuna is an 8-month-old puppy who is still very much in the process of development. She is cheerful, playful, energetic, and social. She loves attention, enjoys lying next to you on the couch, and adores being cuddled. Her affectionate nature means she loves being close to her people and pays close attention to what’s going on around her. Like many young dogs, Yuna still has a good dose of puppy enthusiasm. She can sometimes be a bit impulsive and doesn’t always think twice before acting. At the same time, she’s an open and unreserved dog who isn’t easily frightened. She learns quickly and can also be delightfully stubborn! Yuna is a true joy-seeker whose cheerful little hops and enthusiastic demeanor quickly win hearts. ❤️ Behavior at home: At home, Yuna is a cozy and active companion. She can entertain herself just fine, but she does need guidance to make sure she doesn’t start inventing her own activities. Soft toys, pillows, blankets, and other items she can pull apart are especially appealing to her. That’s why she needs plenty of appropriate chew toys. Despite her energy, she can also sleep deeply and relax comfortably beside her people on the couch when it’s quiet at home. Yuna is mostly house-trained, but due to her busy and enthusiastic nature, she sometimes forgets to go outside in time. With further guidance and routine, this will improve; at the time we’re writing this, she’s been in the Netherlands for less than three weeks and has lived in a house for the first time in her life since then. She gets along well with the cats in her foster family. After a few clear lessons from the resident cats, she’s learned to respect their boundaries and now walks nicely around them. Staying home alone also goes well when other dogs are present—sometimes she’ll give a little whine, but after that she can manage just fine. With the other (own) dogs in the household, Yuna is still learning a lot. She’s enthusiastic and social, but doesn’t always understand that other dogs also need personal space. As she spends more time in foster care, she’s already showing nice progress in this area. She’s best buddies with the other foster puppy in the household; she often plays with this two-year-old pup, and both dogs love to sleep together.

About Yuna

What life with Yuna looks like

Yuna is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Straydogs Rescue Nederland in RC Nieuwe Pekela.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yuna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yuna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Straydogs Rescue Nederland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yuna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yuna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Straydogs Rescue Nederland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Yuna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yuna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Straydogs Rescue Nederland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yuna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
