Yuuto

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Breed: Mixed Breed Color: Brown Date of Birth: December 10, 2025 Gender: Male Neutered: No Reason for Surrender: The previous owner was overwhelmed. Characteristics: Yuuto (approx. 55 cm and 18 kg, not yet fully grown) is a friendly, lively, and cheerful young dog who learns new things quickly and eagerly and works very well together with others. He possesses an inner calmness but also displays strong-willed traits. So far, he has been very friendly and open toward both people and other dogs. He thoroughly enjoys human contact and loves being petted. He hasn't paid much attention to children so far. Interactions with other animals have been trouble-free thus far. He is curious and observes them very closely. However, as is typical for his breed, all of this could change significantly as he matures. Since he’s only been in Switzerland since mid-May, he’s not yet very familiar with life here. Unfortunately, he’s already had to change homes during this time and is currently living temporarily with a dog trainer—alongside a female dog on a farm (with horses and cats). He’s very open to new experiences, likes to observe new situations carefully at first, and so far rarely or only briefly shows any signs of uncertainty. Yuuto still has a lot to learn, but he already knows the most important basic commands (though naturally not yet fully established). Attending a dog training school would certainly be beneficial. Yuuto is looking for someone with dog experience, preferably someone knowledgeable about breeds, who understands what it means to have a dog with herding-dog ancestry and what demands these breeds (German Shepherd and livestock guardian dogs) place on their owners. Traveling by car and being left alone are among the things Yuuto still needs to practice. Being left alone with another dog goes well, but being completely alone remains a challenge for Yuuto. Especially during the first few months, Yuuto’s new owners should have the time and patience to work on these issues with him (perhaps through working from home or similar arrangements). Rasse: Mischling Farbe: Braun Alter: 10. Weitere Informationen gerne telefonisch. About Yuuto

What life with Yuuto looks like

Yuuto is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Berner Tierzentrum in Switzerland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yuuto, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yuuto?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Berner Tierzentrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yuuto on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yuuto if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Berner Tierzentrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Yuuto already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yuuto isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Berner Tierzentrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yuuto and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
