Żaba

Mixed Breed · Female

My two-year-old spayed female dog Żaba is looking for a loving home with space and exercise. I am reluctantly seeking a new, permanent home for my Żaba. Żaba weighs approximately 15 kg and currently lives with me in Penzberg. After my mother's passing, I brought Żaba from Poland to Germany as she had no one to care for her or take her in. It was important to me that she was well cared for and not simply left somewhere. However, I have come to realize that life in an apartment does not really suit her needs. Żaba was raised in the countryside or on a farm and was used to a lot of space, freedom, and exercise. She is a loving, lively, and very active dog who loves being outside, running, and moving around a lot. Therefore, I would like to find her a home in a rural area, ideally with a securely fenced garden. She does not always feel comfortable on a leash and sometimes tries to take her own paths when the opportunity arises. Therefore, she needs people who approach her with patience, security, and loving consistency. Żaba gets along well with children and other dogs. Unfortunately, she does not get along with my cat, which is why I would like to find her a cat-free household. Żaba is sometimes a bit cautious and reserved with men at first. If you give her some time and approach her calmly and kindly, she will gain your trust and come closer on her own. This decision is very difficult for me. I absolutely do not want to simply give Żaba away, but rather find people for her who can provide her with a permanent home and the life that suits her. She needs exercise, space, activity, and people who enjoy an active dog. Żaba has an EU pet passport. Żaba is being privately placed and is currently in Penzberg. If you are seriously interested or have questions, I would be happy to hear from you: Angelina Schobeß

About Żaba

What life with Żaba looks like

Żaba is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Starnberg in Starnberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Żaba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Żaba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Starnberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Żaba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Żaba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Starnberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Żaba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Żaba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Starnberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Żaba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
