Zalia

Mixed Breed · Female

Zalia is a 3-4 year old female dog weighing approximately 42 kg, strongly resembling a Caucasian Shepherd. She has recently been in our shelter and has proven to be a gentle, calmer dog that is very attached to humans. She eagerly seeks petting, follows her caregiver, and actively seeks human contact. She walks nicely on a leash and feels most comfortable close to humans. She arrived at the shelter in generally good condition. Apart from a few mats, her condition and coat were very good from the start, indicating that she is a well-groomed and healthy dog. However, Zalia has very characteristic traits of the breed she resembles. She is a vigilant and attentive dog with a strong guarding instinct, which is why we are looking for a responsible home that knows the needs of such large dogs. She does not get along with other dogs - she provokes conflicts herself, so we are looking for a home where she will be the only dog. She will do best in a home with a well-fenced garden, without direct contact with other dogs, for everyone's safety. Before adoption, Zalia will undergo a sterilization procedure - this is the only remaining element of her full prophylaxis. If you are looking for a faithful, calm companion and have experience with large guard dogs, Zalia may be waiting for you.

PL·Show original

Zalia to około 3–4-letnia sunia o wadze około 42 kg, mocno w typie owczarka kaukaskiego. Do schroniska trafiła w ogólnie dobrym stanie.

About Zalia

What life with Zalia looks like

Zalia is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Czekadełko in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zalia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zalia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Czekadełko handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zalia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zalia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Czekadełko will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zalia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zalia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Czekadełko early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zalia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
