Adopt Zana

Belgian Malinois · Female · Young · 1 year

Zana - young Malinois female dog is looking for a fresh start. Zana is a young Malinois female dog, for whom the animal shelter has been a real rescue. Although we know very little about her past, Zana was found tied up, with ropes around her mouth and paws. What she must have experienced before is only imaginable. Currently, Zana lives in the animal shelter and is being cared for and observed step by step. Physically, the sweet girl is recovering well, and the caretakers are making an effort to get to know the beautiful dog better character-wise. Zana is a Belgian shepherd and probably has breed-typical prerequisites: These dogs are intelligent, sensitive, hardworking, and demanding. They need clear structures, reliable contact persons, mental stimulation, and sufficient exercise, but also fixed rest periods. A Malinois is not a beginner's dog and demands a lot from its people. Those who engage with her and her needs will experience a human-dog relationship that is particularly unique and hard to compare. Since we don't know about Zana's previous level of training, interested parties should be prepared that she still has a lot to learn in her new home. Equally important is giving her enough time to adjust. Dogs with an unknown or problematic background need patience, calmness, and people who can respect their limits and provide security. For Zana, we wish a home with experienced people who are aware of the responsibility and are willing to show her step by step that life can also be full of love and safety. Zana is waiting. Perhaps exactly for you. Here is Zana's video If you are aware of what comes with adopting a shelter dog and have fallen for the rescue dog, please contact the responsible adoption officer of SALVA Dog Help. We would also be very grateful for the provision of a foster home!

About Zana

What life with Zana looks like

Zana is a young adult belgian malinois dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
