Zapada

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Zapada has found a home! His story: Zapada, the large-breed puppy with a beige fluffy coat, named after a freedom fighter, has settled in well within a short time in his foster home. He has adapted to the daily routine and the habits of the foster family and is practicing basic commands. While he tries to do everything right, sometimes – typical of a herding dog – commands are occasionally questioned. Zapada loves to snuggle and be petted and seeks the proximity of his foster family, where there are also two younger children and another dog. He lives in harmony with everyone and is a cheerful puppy to fall in love with, as his foster home writes: He is the kind of puppy who bounds joyfully over the meadow with tentative jumps, falls down, and happily bites into the grass. He also already knows how to ride in the car and runs well on the leash. However, Zapada cannot deny his herding dog genes and sometimes reacts insecurely when visitors come to the house. He needs time to accept that he does not have to protect his family and becomes calmer, making friendly contact with unfamiliar visitors. With a loving and consistent training style and attendance at a positively working dog training class, we are sure that Zapada will be a loyal and reliable companion for all activities. Originally, he washed up as a small, unloved puppy at the shelter in Baia Mare, and his background story is unfortunately not known. We wish for Zapada adopters who can bring understanding and humor for the young puppy and the already beginning puberty and who want to offer Zapada beautiful walks and sufficient contact with fellow animals. His future people should be familiar with the typical characteristics of herding dogs and ideally live in a rural environment. A secured property where Zapada can run and play freely would be ideal. Zapada currently measures 55 cm and weighs 26 kg. As an adult, he is expected to reach a large size. After a positive match, could Zapada, the raw diamond, BE YOUR dog? Then contact us. We thank Birgit C., the namingsister, who gave Zapada its meaningful name and thus its own identity. As of May 27. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped. This is a young, adolescent dog.

Stand 27.05.24

About Zapada

What life with Zapada looks like

Zapada is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zapada, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zapada?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zapada on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zapada if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zapada already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zapada isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zapada and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
